Urtica dioica. Used medicinally to strengthen and support the entire body. Leaves and stems are covered with tiny, hollow, silica-tipped hairs that release a skin irritant when touched. Dried or cooked, nettles lose their sting and are safe to ingest. Medicinal: Leaves are rich in iron and vitamin C. Ingested in infusions or tinctures to treat eczema. Fresh, stinging leaves are applied to skin to treat arthritis. Root is used for prostate complaints. Also used as a tasy potherb alone or in mixes of other greens. Avg. 180,000 seeds/oz.
