| Tomato Grower’s Test Kit | | | |
Fall Planting Sale. Through September 15, 2010, 10% off all vegetable seed!!! | | | | Tomatoes use Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potash (N, P and K ror short) for healthy growth. Nitrogen is directly responsible for healthy green leaves, vital in the first few weeks of a tomato plant’s growth. Later, too much Nitrogen can result in an overabundance of vine and leaf growth and little fruit development. Phosphorus is needed for healthy root growth. Tomatoes will develop roots whever the stem comes in contact with the ground, which will help invigorate your plant. You may want to consider "deep planting". Potash is essential for fruit and flower development. Signs of low K include soft fruit and poor condition of the tomato’s skin. While tomatoes will grow in soil pH that ranges from 5-8 to 7.0, they are happiest in a slightly acid soil of 6.2 to 6.8. A pH around 6.5 is where N, P, K and other trace minerals are most available to your tomato plant. The Tomato Grower’s Test Kit will allow you to determine these 4 important aspects of your tomato gardening. 4 tests, 4 color coded test tubes and a color comparison chart | | Return to top |
