About Dry,Shell Beans-Cultivation
Fall Planting Sale. Through September 15, 2010, 10% off all vegetable seed!!!

Plant the same as for bush beans. Pods are ready to pick when they are mature and brown in color. In damp weather, they may be dried in a warm oven or dehydrator. They may be shelled by hand. Some friends of ours put them in an old pillow case, tie up the case and run them in a warm drier. This both dries them and shells them! You may expect about a 8:1 ratio of yield per seed planted or about 10lbs. yield per 100 foot row. Approx. 1,600 seeds/LB.

Phaseolus vulgaris. 95 days. This is my favorite cornbread and beans bean! A very old variety grown by the Mandan Indians of the Dakotas, commercially available since 1907. Hardier, earlier, larger, more productive, and quicker cooking than the common navy bean. 3-4" pods are filled with flavorful, large white beans. Very nutritious. Bush type plant does very well in the Midwest and the North. Untreated seeds.
